The Multi-kid Juggle
Managing different ages, levels, and needs; wanting kids to be together but taught individually; the logistics of multiple schedules and drop-offs. With a solid foundation and lots of flexibility, we’ve come to see mixed ages and schedules not as a logistical nightmare but as key components that let us keep living the dream!
Here’s how we make different ages, personalized learning, and flexible schedules work for our families and our whole community:
- The Multi-Age Classroom – All of our programs operate as a vibrant, one-room community for children ages 5 to 12 with content learning for kindergarten to eighth grades. We do not separate children by rigid grade levels. Instead, our mixed-age environment naturally mimics real life – in our Schoolhouse and your home.
- Individualized Learning Plans and Access – Our Schoolhouse provides materials for each topic – be it math, reading, nature, art, or otherwise – for all levels, kindergarten through eighth grade – and our teachers support your children in selecting and recording the next steps for learning each time they are here.
- Mastering the Hybrid Logistics – Managing different drop-offs and at-home learning days requires a structured, predictable system for all of us. We offer consistent half-day programs, mornings and afternoons, Monday through Thursday, August – June as well as Friday family field trips and Day Camp Days throughout the year
- The Community Calendar is shared – Your children won’t have separate celebrations, field days, and special events to attend on different days in different places – they’re shared. You’ll get to enjoy them together.
